How to deal with worry, rumination, and obsessions

  • Webinar
  • Started Oct 4, 2023 at 9:00 AM PDT

Thinking is a normal part of your life but when your thoughts become so persistent that they’re like “a car without brakes” and you get stuck in your head for hours and hours, that’s a different story.  Perhaps you spend hours and hours replaying in your head a conversation you had with your ex-boyfriend; or maybe you can’t stop thinking about where things went wrong with your boss this week.

Overthinkers are often caught up in worrying, ruminating, obsessing, “analysis paralysis,” dwelling on the past and many more thinking strategies. These thinking patterns are not easy to handle. On top of that, you may also have beliefs like “worrying helps me prepare for the worst; thinking a lot about something helps me understand what I need” and others.

In this workshop, you will learn key skills - based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy - to handle worrying, ruminating and obsessing without getting trapped in your head.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Bring yourself back to the present
  • Respond compassionately to those thinking patterns
  • Look at what’s really behind those thinking patterns
  • Develop a new relationship with those worries, obsessions and anxieties.

(*) This webinar will be recorded and you will have access to it for 30-days.

I’m a psychologist with a doctoral degree and in the last 17 years, I have been providing exposure services to children, teens, and adults who struggle with different forms of fear-based struggles: OCD, phobias, procrastination, worry, perfectionism, panic, and more.

I have been trained in all models of exposure therapy: habituation model, inhibitory learning model, and ACT & ERP.

In addition to my doctoral training, I'm a  graduate of the International OCD Foundation Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) for the treatment of pediatric OCD and adult OCD; my clinical work is primarily based on Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the recognized front-line treatment for OCD, anxiety and related condition disorders. I'm the founder of the East Bay Behavior Therapy Center, a boutique therapy practice, where I offer therapy, coaching, and focused interventions for anxiety-based struggles, based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and contextual-behavioral science.

I'm the author of 6 books, co-author of two, and have been nominated as a Fellow of the Association of Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS) for my contributions to the dissemination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to the treatment of particular unworkable behavioral patterns.
