If you’re working with clients with OCD, panic, or any form of anxiety, no matter where you’re in the treatment, and no matter how familiar you are with exposure-based interventions, this webinar will augment your clinical skills on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) to guide your clients to fill the gap where they are and where they want to go.
All the content of this webinar aims to answer a specific question: how does ACT facilitate exposure interventions for OCD.
At a general level, you will learn the scientific underpinnings behind contextual behavioral science and exposure therapy as the basis to understand how ACT + ERP blend together. As the webinar progresses, you will train your eyes and ears to notice how the client is responding and how you’re responding to the client’s behaviors as a frame to either deliver “acceptance-based interventions” or “change-based interventions.” You will have an opportunity to practice all these ACT shifts in small groups and experience first-hand the flexibility of the ACT model when facilitating exposure work.
Throughout the webinar, you will notice how within the ACT model exposure exercises are, by nature, a process. You will be encouraged to find your own rhythm when facilitating them to help your clients to get their life back on track, full of vitality and presence instead of them powering through exposures, with a scatterbrain or even as another form of avoidance or compulsive behavior.
I will certainly do my best to present you with ACT skills in a simple, uncomplicated, unpretentious, and jargon-free manner. More importantly, I will share with you all the ACT skills and processes that I introduce to my clients and I see them using day-to-day to make a real turn from surviving into thriving!
While this online class focuses on adults, you can access a session focused on children and teens!
Each participant will have access to:
Six 60 minutes sessions, including captions
Slides for each presentation
Ready to use scoring templates for OCD assessments like the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale.
7 core worksheets to use with clients.
Assessment of mental compulsions.
A 60-minute session focused on working with children and teens.
A cheat sheet to guide a values-based exposure session with your clients.

You will learn how to:
Facilitate acceptance-based and change-based interventions through different ACT processes -hexaflex – before, during, and after values-guided exposure exercises.
Model for clients that fear, anxiety, worry, and nervousness are part of life; we feel them, we think them, and they just happen. And as uncomfortable as they are, we can learn how to make room to hang out with them, instead of being held back by them.
Contextualize exposure exercises as values-based moves, personal choices, and as a way of helping clients to choose to feel all types of experiences – including yucky ones- and stay with them with openness, curiosity, and flexibility- in the service of what they care about.
Introduce WISE MOVES to facilitate both, planned values-based exposures and values-based exposures on the fly for teens and adults.
Identify specific blocks that may show up when facilitating values-based exposures, either with children, teens, or adults.

Teach your clients
when approaching exposure exercises
ACTifying Your Exposure for OCD was an informative and practical course to combine ACT and ERP with clients of all ages. Dr Z has extensive knowledge and skills, and her training was accessible and easy to follow. She also encouraged applying learned strategies with clients to deepen therapist knowledge and application. I have used ACT for many years but only had a basic understanding of ERP. Dr Z's course helped me understand exposure, the evidence-base and how to use ACT alongside an OCD exposure treatment. As a result, I feel confident to apply what I have learned. I particularly liked how she addressed micro ACT skills to support client exposures and using the Choice Point with children and younger teens. Thank you Dr Z for a fantastic training!
